Over the past couple of weeks, videos of George Floyd’s horrifying death circulated, causing outrage and sparking protests around the world.  As a result, the Atlanta Police Department were forced to mobilize and put every officer on the street to prevent loss of life and wantless destruction of property while enforcing a city-wide curfew.

On May 30th, Officers Armon Jones and Roland Claud, Investigators Ivory Streeter, Mark Gardner, Willie Sauls, and Sgt. Lonnie Hood, all well-respected within the Atlanta Police Department,  were all placed on road patrol to help contain the outrage and an already chaotic situation. I encourage you to watch the body cam video in its entirety—listen to the gunshots, the mayhem surrounding—see the officers continually try to maintain control. 

The media has shortened footage of this event, adding outrage to an already tumultuous environment, which led to 4 officers being unjustly fired and all 6 being charged criminal by D.A. Paul Howard.Unfortunately, due to the high tensions around our country during these difficult times, the officers were quickly terminated without any due process and charged with aggravated assault in a sacrificial move. They were fired for doing their job—to protect Atlanta’s people and control an already chaotic situation.
